The year is off to a flying start.
With the budget speech and the financial year-end already behind us, we can look forward to an exciting year.
It is a privilege for me to be part of the Ekström group since June last year and although it has been a challenging few months, I would like to thank everyone for their support and kindness. I believe that this year will be a year of growth, not only in our financial department but in all parts of our business, including our employees and clients.
We want to wish you all of the best for the new year and success in all your endeavours.

• The tax-free threshold has increased from R75 000 to R75 750.
• A new top personal income tax rate of 45% for those with taxable incomes above R1.5 million.
• Increases in the excise duties on alcohol and tobacco, of between 6% and 10%.
• An increase of 30c/litre in the general fuel levy and 9c/litre in the Road Accident Fund levy.
With this said, we can expect an increase of at least 39c in the fuel price beginning of April (should other factors like the exchange rate and price of Brent oil stay the same).
